Instagram Hashtags You Should Use for Every Day of the Week
Instagram daily hashtags: did you give it a try yet?
#mondaymorning #tuesdaythoughts #wednesdaywine — hashtags pepper Instagram posts like #sprinkles on #icecream.
Tons of businesses rely on hashtags to build brand awareness, create fast-moving conversations across Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
Hashtags are proven to help your ads outperform and reduce cost-per-click (i.e., making your overall ad cheaper).
Everyone seems to be on the #bandwagon with days of the week Instagram hashtags, in particular. They’re great ways to stay up to date with the latest trends and connect to a larger conversation (especially if you’re a small business).
Although daily hashtags are general by nature, you can easily tailor them to your specific industry and company culture.
Below is a litany of the highest-quality examples from growing businesses for every day of the week — starting with the most popular, and including more #creative ones to stand out from the crowd.
Monday Hashtags
Monday. For about 83% of the population, it’s the first day of the working week. According to our research, if you’re a company or a brand, it is also one of the best days to post on Instagram.
Posting on Monday make posts perform better than most any other day’s posts, including weekends. It also gets you a lower average cost per click than you would get when posting on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.
| Hashtag | Posts |
|---|---|
| 1. #mondaymorning | 2.1M |
| 2. #mondaymood | 1.9M |
| 3. #mondayblues | 1.8M |
| 4. #mondayfunday | 1.3M |
| 5. #mondaynight | 799.2K |
| 6. #mondayvibes | 764.7K |
| 7. #mondaymadness | 318.3K |
| 8. #mondayssuck | 252.1K |
| 9.#mondayoff | 64.1K |
| 10. #mondaymuse | 45.8K |
Unsurprisingly, several of the most popular Monday hashtags are less than enthusiastic about the day.
From #mondayblues to #mondayssuck, there are a fair amount of posts out there bemoaning the start of the week (and some, like #mondaymood, that can probably go both ways).
There are plenty of opportunities to get more creative, though.
There’s #mondaymuse, #mondayfunday, and ever-mysterious #mondaynight (what exactly happens on Monday night?).
Whatever your style, posting on a Monday can help drive a solid amount of traffic.
1. #MONDAYBLUES — 1.8M posts

Coming in at the top of Monday hashtags, #mondayblues is pretty self-explanatory. You wake up in the morning, your weekend fully behind you and a full week of work in front of you. Your to-do list is a mile long. Maybe your head hurts from last night. Either way, you’ve got the #mondayblues.
Most of the brands using #mondayblues in posts are trying to empathize with their followers and acknowledge the struggle inherent to the second day of the week (or first, if that’s your style).
But you can also use the #mondayblues hashtag a little more creatively like Meme Hill Studio did in this post:
Monday blues. Mixing patterns is my favorite and this crazy paper stole my 💙 at first sight.
Instead of a GIF of a sad dog or a tired human, Meme Hill is using this Monday hashtag to show off an elegantly designed side table decorated with various blue-hued items. The lamp, wallpaper, books, vase and framed artworks all work together as part of one whole. And the palette—while blue—is beautiful.
It’s an inspired, unexpected twist on the kind of post you would typically expect from a #mondayblues hashtag—and it paid off, netting Meme Hill 1,338 likes and numerous comments.
Related hashtags: #mondaysbelike (187,588 posts), #mondayfeels (1,754,474 posts)
2. #MONDAYOFF — 64.1K posts
To cure the #mondayblues, perhaps you decide to take #mondayoff.
Most #mondayoff posts fly in the face of those with a more traditional workday — lounging in bed, eating a lavish breakfast or (as in marine_photovideo’s case) kiteboarding in New Caledonia.
Fun is shining ☀️
Marine_photovideo’s clip is nothing if not chill — split between a white-sand beach and deep blue waters. While 66 views might seem sparse, compared with other post examples (e.g., see #tuesdayvibes below) — marine_photovideo is a relatively small enterprise (192 followers) in an even smaller location. (New Caledonia is in the South Pacific with fewer than 300,000 residents.)
Still, marine_photovideo has captured an attentive crowd. 34% of them have viewed the post after a single day. More growth is likely on the horizon for this savvy account.
Related hashtags: #weekendiscoming (158,959 posts), #weekendover (60,098 posts)
3. #MONDAYMUSE — 45.8K posts

More ethereal than some of the other hashtags (e.g., #wednesdayworkout), #mondaymuse nevertheless occupies an enormous place in the minds of early-week Instagrammers.
The majority of #mondaymuse posts reflect the female complexity, depth, and models for inspiration. (In classical mythology, the muses were nine goddesses that represented the arts and sciences.)
While some posts are relevant to politics and activism (e.g., Oprah Winfrey’s Golden Globes speech) others #mondaymuse posts are more oriented towards female fashion, such as Veer and Wander’s below.
This San-Francisco apothecary and salon highlights a sublime model, with a particular focus on her “cool glasses.”
In nineteen hours, 89 of Veer & Wander’s followers agree with their x-factor.
While the enormous square frames are definitely prominent — the pearl white on their edges also catches the model’s hair — helping highlight Veer & Wander’s salon business.
Using #mondaymuse can be a unique way to connect on a deeper level with more of your women followers.

Tuesday Instagram Hashtags
While Tuesday isn’t the absolute best day to post for views, it’s still a weekday. And weekdays are proven to be more popular for posting than weekends.
Although Tuesday might be a lull between higher volume days Monday and Wednesday, it’s still a great option for keeping your followers engaged while the work week kicks into gear.
Tuesday also has the lowest cost-per-click of any day of the week.

Most of us are feeling the groove of the work week by now. There’s a rhythm to the day (unlike #saturdayfunday) — and we can already start to drag a bit. It’s nice to remember the things that keep us happy and uplifted between the all of the to-dos.
#tuesdayvibes Instagram posts generally reflect productivity, mixed with a little fun. The clothing line My Bandage Dress reminds us to keep it cute!
We all need a bit of cuteness on a Tuesday 🐶💘
This adorable picture of puppy love garnered 2,243 likes — one of the highest ranked posts for #tuesdayvibes overall.
My Bandage Dress (or MYBD) nailed the emotional factor here. Our research shows that pulling at viewers’ heartstrings will not only capture their attention — it can motivate them to share. Thursday! We’re getting there!
Thursday is the most popular day for Instagram posts — tied with Monday. We’re ready to take a breather with some #throwbackthursday (#tbt) images and videos.
While it’s a great day for lots of traffic, Thursday’s cost-per-click does inch up, heading into the weekend.

#tbt is one of the most popular Instagram hashtags ever with a staggering 407.1 million posts! Many of the other top hashtags for Thursday reflect similar desires to step back and consider #thursdaythoughts and #thursdaytruths.
Still, some people are continuing the #thursdaygrind, waking up for yet another #thursdaymorning.
1. #TBT — 407.1M posts

#tbt doesn’t need a big explanation. It’s universal (i.e., you can use it to dig up pictures of your company’s early days — or your grandparents’ wedding cake) — but all of these #throwback posts have one thing in common: they bring up things we want to remember from the past.
Here, NYC/DC food and travel poster cy_eats treats her followers to a taste of a stunning bagel + lox she most likely inhaled immediately after photographing it.
Bagels are Forever 💍A Classic from @blackseedbagels.
It’s hard to really be truly unique with #tbt. But cy_eats nails it. With 5,506 likes and a lively conversation among individuals and small businesses, this high-resolution pic stands out in a sea of average quality images.
Everybody and their grandmother tosses up #tbt posts. Making sure yours is vibrant (think: primary colors), on-brand, and with a brief but scintillating caption can drive a heavy amount of traffic.
Related hashtags: #throwbackthursdays (1,520,537 posts), #tbtphoto (89,403 posts)
2. #THURSDAYNIGHT — 989.5K posts

The set of #thursdaynight hashtags is replete with pictures of dinners out, interesting departures to art galleries or other events — even personal tidbits like new tattoos!
The Berry Campbell Gallery in Chelsea (New York City) takes full advantage of Thursday’s being a hugely popular day for Instagram traffic to announce an opening for their special exhibition of paintings by John Opper.
It is less common to see original works of art on Instagram, making this post (even though its resolution isn’t the highest) still captivating. Although the Berry Campbell Gallery likely had a range of images to choose from, selecting this work is particularly enticing since red has been proven to strike a particular visceral chord among viewers. 466 followers without plans for #thursdaynight have now reconsidered.Related hashtags: #wednesdaynight (502,924 posts), #fridaynight (11,961,974 posts)
Friday Instagram Hashtags
Friday is expensive for Instagram ads — cost-per-click makes a jump as we start the weekend (particularly in Q2 and Q3). It’s also one of the less popular days for posts.
If you’re considering a new or revamped social media strategy, you might want to consider posting earlier in the week on days like Monday and Wednesday. You’ll still get a bunch of views — at a reduced price.
Still, a lot of fun ideas do exist for Friday.
| Hashtag | Posts |

| 1. #fridaynight | 12M |

| 8. #fridayoff | 54.2K |

| 10. #fridayfood | 31.5K |
Things can get really pricey for those of us going out and posting about #fridaynight, #fridaynightdinner, and #fridaynightlights.
It’s not just expensive for Instagram advertisers. There’s just too much #fridayfun after the #grind of the week!
Most of us (at least 1.5 million) have that #fridayfeeling.
1. #FRIDAYnightlights — 1M posts

Many of us think of the popular TV series about a small town football team in Dillon, Texas when we hear “Friday Night Lights.” (Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can’t Lose!)
But a range of businesses have put their own creative spin on the hashtag.
Here, GraphicGang has posted a beautiful drawing of a woman, a glass of wine, and the waning light on a summer evening.
Follow @graphicgang for a daily dose of inspiration or tag us (#graphicgang) to get featured.
7,514 likes, along with 27 comments, prove that the team’s tactics have paid off. Not only is it rare to see such high-quality, original works of art — but GraphicGang has also gotten artsy with its caption, too, creating its own hashtag, #graphicgang, with over 229,000 posts.
A clear call-to-action, coupled with something truly inspiring for followers, make for an excellent example of daily hashtag use. Cheers!

2. #FRIDAYfun — 870.7K posts

#fridayfun takes a variety of forms — from snuggling with pets to “some girl-time in Brussels” below. Here Antwerp-based blogger cindyvandyck captures a chic after-work vignette.
Cindy gives a clear call-to-action (“Tag someone you want a coffee date with”) in her caption. Using ALL CAPS is an effective and catchy tactic, too; paired with a more delicate scene, it doesn’t come off as jarring or aggressive for her 32,800 followers.

Sunday Instagram Hashtags
Sunday. The day of rest.
Or is it?
Many of the top Sunday posts number in the millions (e.g., there are well over 5 million #sundaymorning posts).
While advertisers may continue to be prolific, our research shows that Sunday is not the most advantageous day for posting. It is one of the most expensive days to post in the week by far (particularly in Q2).
Your ROI could be higher on a day with equal or more traffic and a significantly lower cost-per-click (e.g., Monday).
| Hashtag | Posts |
|---|---|
| 1. #sundaymorning | 5.3M |
| 2. #sundaymood | 2.6M |

At the same time, Sunday doesn’t need to be completely off your radar.
An enormous volume of traffic surrounds meals — e.g., #sundaybrunch, #sundaydinner. If you’re a restaurant, you might be able to generate anticipation for an upcoming foodie event, luring weekenders to your table with a tantalizing picture of a #sundayroast.
Apparel companies might show off their #sundaybest; musicians could consider highlighting a #sundaysesh for their followers.
Sunday continues to be a fine day to charm your followers!
1. #SUNDAYbrunch — 1.3M posts

Snazzyclozet recently published posh pictures of a woman wearing their “Genevieve Dress” below.
The brand employs a clear call-to-action (#swipe to purchase), above a series of brief but unique captions.
Even those spending the majority of Sunday resting could be motivated to treat themselves to a quick purchase. Among 1,491 likes — snazzyclozet banks that a portion of these will be conversions.

Final Thoughts on Instagram Hashtags
We hope this gives you a taste of the enormous range of ways you can get creative with your Instagram hashtags — and keep your costs down.
Remember the highest cost-per-click is on weekends and the most popular days for posting are Mondays, Thursdays, and Wednesdays.
So, unless your brand specifically targets people who could convert on the weekends, consider taking a #saturdayride or a long #sundaybrunch and focus your best hashtags for the work week instead.
